A walk in the park

Our final full day in Noosa started like all others with a healthy breakfast overlooking the local caravan park and parkland between our apartment and the Noosa River. The plan was to explore the new boardwalk connecting Hastings Street with Noosa National Park. The boardwalk has been a long running project to replace an earlier version that was built before Noosa became a favourite with interstate (southern states) visitors. It had been falling into disrepair. Damage and a temporary repair from a landslide a few years ago added to its woes.

Our routine in Noosa typically incorporates a visit to a local cafe. Today was no exception. We were drawn to the Provodore in the French Quarter of Hastings Street where great coffees fuelled us up for the walk ahead.

The Provodore, Noosa

Noosa main beach was just around the corner from the Provodore. The surf has been pumping for some days with the number of rescues performed by the surf lifesavers making the evening news. The surfers were out in numbers surfing the breaks on each of the points we passed on the walk along the boardwalk. The boardwalk was beautifully designed and constructed, blending in with surrounds and greatly improving access to the National Park for pedestrians.

We considered where the sun was sitting in the sky before deciding the direction to walk to avoid the heat of the day. It was decided to walk in a clockwise direction following the coastline to Hells Gate before returning to the National Park entrance via the Tanglewood track.

Not long after starting the National Park walk we passed a side track to Noosa Hill. We both noted this was a track we hadn’t walked and knowing it joined up with the Tanglewood track inspired us to return this way later in the day.

Chris completed the Noosa Hill walk while Wendy hurried down the Tanglewood track to address a call of nature. We met up outside the information centre and completed the return leg of our walk back along the coastal boardwalk and on to Noosa Sound and our apartment.

We returned to the apartment having cover in excess of 15 kms. Our best hit out since arriving in Noosa and great preparation for the Coast to Coast walk later in the year.

Following lunch we started packing things away in preparation for our departure tomorrow.

An enjoyable dinner at Me and Mrs Jones brought our final full day at Noosa to a close.
