It all happens down at the Weipa jetty where bauxite is loaded onto what seems to be an endless line of ships. There’s no time for the crew to enjoy the highlights Weipa has to offer! Motor in, fill up and then depart.
Other recreational jetties are popular place to go and fish although not necessarily because there are any fish – it’s probably high enough out of the water to be considered ‘croc safe’.
We did spot one croc in our travels earlier today. At first we weren’t sure it was a croc so out came the binoculars and while we watched he hauled himself out of the water and onto the mud flat exposed by the low tide. Another in the ‘monster’ category that will continue to grow in length as we retell the story.
