After setting up camp in the caravan and camping ground at Rollingstone Beach we went for a walk over to the beach to get our bearings and check out the sunset. It was here that we spotted the first of what we assume will be many signs warning of the dangers of estuarine crocodiles with the word “Achtung” in bold letters next to a unmistakable graphic of a croc.
Given that crocs have been spotted in the Mary River that flows through Gympie well to the south of where we were camped, we were surprised that it had taken until now to spot such a warning sign.
We think it’s possibly time to give the kayak a rest for a while! Interestingly, a small group of children (pre school age) were wading in the shallows, under the dubiously watchful eye of an adult.
